How do i learn kitchen design?
Question by Ready for change: How do i learn kitchen design?
I have a new position in a company that makes kitchens and i have no idea about it, and they want me to sell kitchens, go to clients take measurements and draw the sketches.
Please someone tell me what do i need to learn and how?

Contact the NKBA and take their certification classes. Also learn the 20/20 CAD program.
EDIT: NKBA: National Kitchen and Bath Association. Get your company to spring for some training. They can’t possibly expect to just drop you in and do all this stuff cold. Do you have ANY drafting/ mechanical drawing background? You need to get a grasp of the basics ASAP. As a last resort, walk into Home Depot or Lowe’s, act like you’re getting a kitchen designed, and watch EVERYTHING the designer does.

i’m redesigning my kitchen, and want to use a virtual designer to view samples prior to purchase and install. i purchased a program called plan 3-d, however, it dones’t allow painted cabinets — only stained. my cabinets are painted, and it’s imperitive to my granite choice. any help appreciated.

I am still working on a design for a new kitchen. The salesperson who is putting the design together for me has the oven (raised) and refridgerator next to each other. She assured me that they could be close together but I am not sure. Help!!!!
In the design I like the oven and fridge next to each other. People have been telling me though it is not good to have a hot oven next to the fridge for technical reasons. Supoosedly the oven will ruin the fridge.
